Michael Vick: Redeemed Hero or Still a Dog Killer?

When the Eagles signed Michael Vick, I supported the signing because I felt that he had served his time and should be allowed to get a second chance. But now it’s interesting to see how most people have embraced Vick as a hero, now that he has been playing so well. It’s funny how winning changes everything. Are you on board with those who are hailing Vick as a hero and the savior of the franchise, or do you still harbor bad feelings towards him because of his past actions? It will be ironic to hear the overwhelming cheers for Vick and the chorus of boos for Donovan McNabb, who was a model citizen and the greatest quarterback in Eagles history. Please comment below. Is This The Greatest Phillies’ Era Of All Time?

As the Philadelphia Phillies are on the verge of clinching the National League East title, the question arises as to whether this is the greatest era of Philadelphia Phillies’ baseball. The only real competition would be the Phillies of 1976-1983, which included a World Series title, a National League Pennant, and several Division titles. While the regular starting lineup for the Mike Schmidt era Phillies might have a slight edge, the starting pitching of the current Phillies would have the edge. A World Series title by this year’s team would probably sway many people into believing that the current Phillies are tops. What’s your opinion? Please comment below. Photo from phillynews.com

I’ll Get You My Pretty. (I Knew O’Donnell Was A Witch).

There’s no doubt that even more kooky things about Republican Senate Candidate Christine O’Donnell will be revealed between now and the November election, but Bill Maher just revealed a good one a couple of days ago. It turns out that O’Donnell admitted to Maher on his show a few years ago that she had dabbled in witchcraft , had friends who were witches, and dated a witch. In addition, she also stated that American companies were cross-breeding mice with human brains. Keep your eye out for even more gems; Maher has threatened to reveal even more videos of O’Donnell’s kooky statements unless she agrees to go on his program for an interview. Can O’Donnell work her hocus pocus and fool Delaware voters to support her? Please comment below.

Temple Owls Flying High, But Tough Road Lies Ahead.

The Temple Owls are off to their best start since 1979, as they tamed the Connecticut Huskies 30-16 to increase their record to 3-0. It’s probably the biggest win in Al Golden’s tenure as head coach at Temple, and it’s Temple’s first win over a BCS team since beating Syracuse in 2004. Best of all, it’s sweet revenge over a Connecticut team that beat Temple in overtime two years ago and on a controversial out of bounds call three years ago. In addition, it’s great to beat a team from the Big East, which kicked Temple out of the conference a few years ago. Perhaps the best sign for Temple was the reemergence of Bernard Pierce, who exploded for 169 yards and three touchdowns. It doesn’t get easier for Temple, which plays three straight road games, including a really tough one next week at Penn State. So can Temple shock the world next week against the Nittany Lions? O’Donnell Is Master Of Her Own Domain. Scary.

Tea Party Conservative cuckoo Christine O’Donnell shocked the world this week when she defeated Mike Castle in Delaware’s Republican Primary for the United States Senate. The more you find out about her, you have to wonder how someone like this could get the nomination for Senate from a major political party. Salon and other publications have been reporting some of the kooky things that she has said and done over the last few years. She has condemned masturbation and equated it with adultery. She has claimed that condoms don’t prevent AIDS. She has denied evolution. She checks the bushes outside her house for political enemies. She lost her house to foreclosure and avoided paying her student loans for years. She basically is a Saturday Night Live skit waiting to happen. As one Delaware official said, she isn’t qualified to become dog catcher. The sad and scary thing is that voter anger and ignorance might be so prevalent that dopes like her, Sharron Angle, and Rand Paul might get elected. What say you? Is it possible that someone so unqualified for political office could get elected to the U.S. Senate? Please comment below.

Did the Media Err in Giving The Florida Pastor So Much Coverage?

There was an interesting article in last week’s New York Times, which examined the issue of whether the media erred in giving so much attention to Florida Pastor Terry Jones and his plan to burn Korans on 9/11. Media outlets often face this dilemma on whether to report certain controversial stories or to ignore them. A major factor in the decision to give this guy his 15 minutes of fame is that it made a good side story to the Ground Zero mosque controversy. Timing is often a key consideration in these situations. Odds are that there will be copycat threats by others to hold Koran burnings in the future, but that the media will be less reluctant to give it such major coverage. Do you think that the media erred in giving Pastor Jones and his bad mustache so much coverage? Do you think they should ignore future Koran burnings? Please comment below.

Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Controversy?

The Philadelphia Eagles had a rough time in their opening game against the Green Bay Packers, as they lost 27-20. Not only did they lose, but they had several injuries to key players, including Leonard Weaver, Jamaal Jackson, Stewart Bradley, and quarterback Kevin Kolb, who was knocked out of the game with a concussion. Kolb had a poor game in his debut as starting quarterback, as he threw for only 24 yards. The one bright spot for the Eagles was the play of back up quarterback Michael Vick, who led the Eagles to 17 second half points. Philadelphia sports talk radio will be buzzing this week as to whether there is a quarterback controversy. However, it’s highly unlikely that Eagles coach Andy Reid will give up this quickly on Kolb, who has been designated as Donovan McNabb’s successor. Vick looked great, but you need to give Kolb a chance, and you can’t judge him by one bad half against a really good defense. Who do you think should be the Eagles’ starting quarterback, Kolb or Vick? Please comment below.

Name The Worst Songs Ever Made

AOL Radio Blog just announced its list of the 100 Worst Songs Ever Made. I think they got a number of them right, including Feelings by Morris Albert, Disco Duck by Rick Dees, You Light Up My Life by Debbie Gibson, and, of course, Seasons In The Sun by Terry Jacks, which should have been number one. Some of my picks, which they left out, would include Muskrat Love by Captain and Tennille (photo below), Happiest Girl In The Whole USA by Donna Fargo, The Night Chicago Died by Paper Lace, and Billy Don’t Be a Hero by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods. What songs made you want to gag and should be on the list? Please comment below.

Florida Pastor Still Burned Up About Islam

Florida Pastor Terry Jones announced today that he still plans to go ahead and burn 200 Korans on Saturday, despite calls from U.S. military leaders and Christian and Jewish religious leaders around the world for him to reconsider. No doubt, Jones has a First Amendment right to do this, but it will only fan the flames in what seems to be an emerging Holy War between Islam and Christianity in the United States and abroad. Al queda has used incidents like Abu Ghraib and the Muhammad cartoons to recruit more people into their terrorist network. This Koran burning incident won’t help and could put U.S. troops in Afghanistan in even more danger. Yes, we should be aggressive in fighting Al queda and terrorism, but we also need to win the hearts and minds of moderate Muslims around the world. Book burning incidents like this won’t help. What’s your opinion on this issue? Please comment below.
