Is This The Greatest Phillies’ Era Of All Time?

As the Philadelphia Phillies are on the verge of clinching the National League East title, the question arises as to whether this is the greatest era of Philadelphia Phillies’ baseball. The only real competition would be the Phillies of 1976-1983, which included a World Series title, a National League Pennant, and several Division titles. While the regular starting lineup for the Mike Schmidt era Phillies might have a slight edge, the starting pitching of the current Phillies would have the edge. A World Series title by this year’s team would probably sway many people into believing that the current Phillies are tops. What’s your opinion? Please comment below. Photo from phillynews.com

My Uncle Mitch took me to my first game in 1959. The Phillies won in a slugfest 17-14. I was hooked. Beside 1964 which broke millions of hearts permanently, this is my favorite time in Phillies history. What a squad!

Jackson you are taking me back.. I remember the 1964 season like it was yesterday – and that game… a trip down memory lane. I have lived in the UK for over 20 years and miss the games every day..
